The waternative Kalymnos Kayak Centre (KKC) is located at the remote seaside village of Vathy on the Island of Kalymnos, from here the waternative team aids passing adventure seekers with everything they need to explore the world famous 'adventure island' of Kalymnos.

Kalymnos Vathy

The fertile basin on the east side of Kalymnos, rich in water resources and dotted with archaeological findings has been contantly inhabited for 7500 years, is probably the most picturesque part of the island.

At the farthest edge of this valley, down to the seacoast, is located the small village of Vathys with its natural harbor of Rina on a narrow, fjord-shaped bay. The steep cliffs on both sides of the bay which form the scenic route into the small port, as well as a multitude of tiny, unspoiled shores along the area offer a unique travelling experience.

Beaches

The beaches of Kampi, Megali Almira and Mikri Almira are all in short distance, easily accessed by sea and ideal for those looking for a few hours of summer serenity. You can visit all three swimming spots by boat (day rental) or go on a kayak trip and enjoy their majestic surroundings. You will first see Kampi beach which is located 1nm away from Rina or approx. 20 minutes-paddling for a moderate paddler. Next comes Megali Almira, a setting bringing in mind pirate-tales imagery, and then Mikri Almira at 2nm from Rina.

Puerto Escondido

A climbing sector located on the right side of the fjord, at the valley of Vathy, it contains 4 climbing routes of grade varying between 6,6b,7 and 7b and offers an ideal cliff diving spot with waters as deep as 25 meters. Starting from sea level and belaying off the deck of the boat you will certainly be ravished by this unique climbing experience!

Deep-water soloing (DWS)

Only 0,5nm from Vathys harbor the landform creates a cave where DWS lovers can climb the crags with the green waters underneath them. The cave is easily reached in any weather and at KKC you can rent a boat or canoe kayak to pull out of the bay as well as climbing shoes in case you want to protect yours from salt water.

Daskalio Cave

The stalactite Daskalio cave on the north side of the bay of Rina, accessible only by sea, is a worthy attraction for those willing to scramble the steep rocky stairs which lead to the first compartment. With archaeological findings revealing human presence from the end of the Neolithic Era on to the Early Christian period this cave has served the locals in multiple ways, offering visitors a trip back in time along with a stunning view over the bay!

Dolphins

If you’d like to see dolphins up close the bay of Rina is the right place! You can boat-or-kayak-ride at a short distance from the harbor (1nm) where dolphins usually gather, attracted by the fish farming facilities nearby. A visit early in the morning or late in the evening will bring you close to these beautiful creatures, the living gems of the Aegean.
