Fishing continues to develop until today and occupies a large number of the island’s residents contributing significantly to the local economy.
Kalymnos today, has the largest fishing fleet in the Mediterranean and constitutes the biggest fishing power in Greece with 340 licensed professional vessels.
In any case, fishing with a Kalymnian fisherman, in a real fishing boat, is a unique experience for both young and old. Where you cannot go on your own, it is the fishermen’s “world”, their “secret points”, their own “paradise”. Wild nature, a complex of mountain and sea smells and sounds, divine peace, unspoiled places, anonymous beaches, crystal waters.
Fishing trips / offered schedule:
- Morning fishing : departure at 6:00 pm / return at 12:30 am (half day trip)
- Afternoon fishing : departure at 1:30 am / return at 7:00 am (half day trip)
- All day fishing : departure at 6:00 pm/ return at 7:00 am ( entire day trip)
Fishing types: The fishing methods which are currently possible to be offered to visitors are: Fishnet, Longline, Angling and Spark point, dependently from the vessel type, the fishing hours, the weather, and the season.
Prices per trip /charter
- Morning fishing 370 € - vessel capacity: 6 pax + 2 crew
- Afternoon fishing 370 € - vessel capacity: 6 pax + 2 crew
- All day fishing 480 € - vessel capacity: 6 pax + 2 crew
Clarification: Your reservation concerns a boat charter with a maximum boarding capacity of 6 people. The charter cost remains the same whether it is one (1) or six (6) visitors on board.
- Half day morning fishing trip / activities & services included :
- Fishing
- Work shop for free on demand: For who likes to learn more about the fishing methods the vessel captain uses, is possible to ask from him and be “teached” during the fishing.
- Traditional breakfast made from local products / Greek coffee / Kalymnian mountain tea.
- Landing on a beach for swimming and relax
- Traditional Lunch: fresh sea food cooked in the boat according the fishermen unique recipes, salad, fruit, water, fresh wine, beer or ouzo.
- Half day afternoon fishing trip / activities & services included :
- Fishing
- Work shop for free on demand: For who likes to learn more about the fishing methods the vessel captain uses, is possible to ask from him and be “teached” during the fishing.
- Traditional aperitif: local traditional appetizers (mezes) made on the boat, glass of ouzo or fresh wine.
- Fruit & Greek coffee
- Supper: fresh sea food cooked in the boat, salad, fruit, water, fresh wine, beer or ouzo.
